Animation Blast

This where it all started. Published between 1998 and 2007, I published nine issues of Animation Blast, and I learned a great deal, especially from interviewing legends of the industry’s Golden Age, including Pete Alvarado, Ed Benedict, Ray Patterson, Iwao Takaomoto, and Gene Hazelton, among others.

I was particularly fond of the profile of Tom Oreb in Issue 6 (2001). Virtually nothing was known about him at the time I researched and wrote that piece, and that article made a big splash when it was first published. In many ways, it helped spark future projects, including both Cartoon Modern and my upcoming Ward Kimball biography.
